Unapproachable Rally Nundle 2008

"Friday arvo 5 pm ... Downtown Nundle. The verandah, footpath and road in front of Nundle pub is congested with riders refreshing ,Bikes recovering after the days run to Nundle.. The 2 day a year capital of the Norton Universe. There is a steady procession of bikes arriving . Some heading down to the caravan park to be tucked away for the night under tarps. Others destined to be left out in the elements to receive a fine cover of frost overnight."............

"Saturday morning dawns fine and sunny.. Perfect riding weather. By 9.30am we had around 50 bikes gleaming in the autumnal sunshine. The older bikes are away 20 minutes before the later model Commandos, Atlas, etc. BP Bob's Norton 16H, ES2s,early Dommis, Trumpy Dave Mason - AJS, me on the '49 Red Hunter, wife Trish on her 1934 BSA, all up around about 12 or 15 old clunkers bellowing up the long incline out of Nundle heading north to Tamworth".............

"What a brilliant sight and sound. Old singles going about the business labouring their way up around the esses on the hill climb. Big twins down in second and third hammering up the twisties.".........

"The sun decides to drop rapidly so we pack the bikes away for the night and head for the pub and the prestigious event that is commonly known as "The Trophy Grab'. Cant remember all the details but there is a few worth mentioning. Trish picked up the prewar class. BP Bob for the war era and a well performing 16H . Bob also picked up a very nice pewter mug in appreciation for his input and general knowledge to the HVNOC over many years.. well done. Neil Weir and his plunger ES2 pick up 2 awards".........

"Bikes where coming thick, fast and slow. The noise was incredible and currawongs took to the gullies to avoid the racquet " ..........

Again .. another one of those days where all is at peace. Brilliant sunshine, bikes all performing admirably. Joe Lucas staying away with his infamous curse. A dozen bods with steam climbing from their Belstaffs and Stags .. Just enjoying the ride, yarning about the past days proceedings, and already starting to plan next years event .. "

Thanks to Reddo for excepts from his MiE post and pictures Bob
